The playoffs are the season for breakout performers, eternal moments, and dreams turned into reality. Conversely, the playoffs are also the season for disappointment, eternal shame, and nightmares fueled by choke jobs to last a lifetime. A Buzz-Saw tends to appreciate the latter.

As for those setting tee times on the golf course, the Toronto Maple Leafs are STILL one of sports darling cursed franchises (much to Mike’s enjoyment), and Alexander Ovechkin wins the honor of asinine buffoon of the week.

Over on the NBA side of things, did the Grizzlies truly earn their first ever conference finals trip or was it aided by a depleted Thunder effort? Realistically, is there any possible way Miami doesn’t repeat as champions? Can anyone but Carmelo score on the Knicks?

Tiger Tiger Woods ya’ll. Tiger is the 2013 Players champion. What does this mean in his pursuit of majors? Sergio Garcia whined to make the TW celebration that much better too.

It’s so nice and warm and fantastic outside and I want a boatload of fries and a massive body of water in which to swim! Tonight we are joined by Alex Byrom all the way from… somewhere where they speak English, but not USA English… English English. The kind with the neat accent. He also created some sort of game that’s fairly amazing, but I’m mainly concerned with the accent. We didn’t manage to get to the news this week (there was a LOT of talking), but the hilarity of making fun of a Brit was worth skipping all my hard won notes.

Tensions are high and tempers are flaring lately all over the sports world. This is all right up Mike “the Buzz-Saw” and George “the Howitzer” Gerbo’s alley. With both the NBA and NHL in full on playoff mode, you better believe we are stock pilled with historic moments, controversy, and you guessed it, asininity.

Now in the second round, entertainment and action are at premium in the NBA. Are the Heat at all worried going to Chicago in a tied series? Ughhhh. And of course, should Derrick Rose return to try to upset the defending champs? The guys may groan and moan throughout this segment, but promise to get through it. Stephon Curry blasted 40 and 11, yet lost. Then in a full team effort the Golden State Warriors beat the Spurs, to even their series. Who has the upper hand? Can Kevin Durant keep throwing the Thunder on his back, despite a continued depleted supporting cast? Oh, and it’s Knicks – Pacers with Spike Lee in the stands and Reggie Miller on commentary. You can’t ask for much better than that.

From the hardwood to the ice, NHL teams are fighting for the right to claim Lord Stanley’s Cup. There’s been much brutality. There’s been much debate. Yup, it’s just another gauntlet that is the Stanley Cup Playoffs. How much trouble are the stacked Penguins in against the never say die upstart Islanders? Want controversy, or as we say on the Howitzer and Buzz-Saw Show, a Buzz-spiracy? This is the series loaded up with it. Does Sidney Crosby dive? Does Sidney Crosby whine? Is there a conscious effort by the league to lean towards 87 with calls? NBC “personality” and 500 goal scorer, Jeremy Roenick thinks so. Have the Kings been revitalized? Are the Red Wings dead? And Montreal and Ottawa HATE each other.

Mike conquers curing voice strains with pineapple juice, much like the Howitzer and Buzz-Saw conquer sports radio, one day, at a time…

Stephen is playing BioShock Infinite on hard mode. You can’t hack things. It makes me really sad. It also makes me sad that I SUCK at the game. FPS + Ashley = FAIL. Give me platforming or adventuring or puzzles… and I’m golden. Make me fire a weapon at someone that isn’t a really bad pixel with the title GoldenEye… and I fail miserably. Every now and then there’s sports news that transcends just the sports world and can make an impact on society as a whole. Jason Collins recently provided that level of news. Raise your hand if you knew who Jason Collins was last week? That’s what I thought… Jason Collins had previously been known as a journeyman role player in the NBA. Now he’s going to be forever known as the first openly gay professional athlete to came out while still in the midst of his career. His outing sparked a fire storm of buffoonery from Miami Dolphin wide receiver Mike Wallace’s nonsensical tweet, to ESPN “NBA insider” Chris Broussard making his personal religious beliefs public knowledge.

Mike “the Buzz-Saw” Asti and George “the Howitzer” Gerbo often provide legit insight. But where’s the fun in that? These guys are at their best when the asininity reigns supreme. Mike has a few unpopular opinions on this issue (mostly involving Broussard). And has been busting at the seams to let loose. You shouldn’t expect anything less from an elite media “heel” like the Buzz-Saw.

After the dust has settled, your favorite sports genius’ go back to one of their wheel houses. The gauntlet for Lord Stanley’s Cup is underway. How do the guys see these playoffs shaking out?
